What an action-packed week it has been for 4 Blue! We celebrated the feast day of our patron saint, St Aidan, with a wonderful array of fun and creative activities that helped us discover more about his inspiring life and legacy. Then it was time to set sail into history on our Year 4 excursion to the Maritime Museum! We stepped back in time as we uncovered fascinating stories of the First Contacts, explored the museum’s captivating galleries, and ventured aboard the mighty HMAS Vampire. It was a fantastic day filled with opportunities to bring our learning to life!

💚💛 Keeping Our Students Safe Online 💛💚 At St Aidan’s, the safety and wellbeing of our students extends beyond the school gates and into the digital world. As online platforms continue to change, so too do the recommendations around sharing images of children online. CSPD is continually reviewing its practices and guidance in line with advice from the Australian eSafety Commissioner, with student privacy and online safety at the centre of these decisions. As a result, you will begin to see a change in the way we share photographs on our school Facebook page. We will be more mindful of sharing images where students can be clearly identified, particularly through photographs showing their faces. Instead, our school posts may feature students from behind or at a distance, photographs focused on their learning and work, group activities, hands-on experiences and the special moments that capture life at St Aidan’s without making individual students identifiable. We know how much our families enjoy seeing what their children have been learning, celebrating and getting involved in at school. We want to continue sharing these moments and showcasing the wonderful things happening across our school, while doing so in a way that reflects the latest guidance and protects our students’ privacy. This is an evolving area, and our approach may continue to develop as guidance and technology change. What remains constant is our commitment to making thoughtful decisions that put the safety, privacy and best interests of our students first. A Special Report: Celebrating Father’s Day For many years now, the role of fathers has changed and evolved. During the industrial revolution, fathers were often considered detached and distant due to working long hours in factories. However, today things have changed dramatically with many dads being celebrated for being sensitive, caring and more hands-on. Recent studies have shown that children benefit greatly from having fathers who are present and interacting in everyday activities. This has transformed the understanding of how fathers shape children’s lives from the start, challenging conventional ideas of parenthood and gender. Research also suggests that fathers influence their sons and daughters in different ways, which is especially true during their transition to adolescence. Engaging in regular physical activities can play a key role in influencing children to learn self-control, face challenges, regulate emotions and take manageable risks. In this Special Report, fathers will learn about the positive impact they can have on their child’s mental health and wellbeing, whilst also ensuring they indulge in a little self-care.
