Sport

At St Aidan's we offer our students the opportunity to participate in many different sports and events.

Sport at our school is about participation, teamwork, healthy lifestyle choices, skill development and, above all, fun.

All children are encouraged to become involved at a level with which they feel comfortable, and to extend this involvement to realise the potential harboured within each individual. Those children who exhibit particular talents in sport have access to representative sports at a number of levels, from school through to national.

We take part in all zone carnivals for Swimming, Cross-Country and Athletics. For these events, the children have the opportunity to represent at Zone, Diocesan and State levels.

Sports Carnivals

Swimming carnival

This event is held in Term 4. All the children from Years 3 to 6 are eligible to participate. Children in Year 2 who turn eight in the calendar year and can competently swim 50 metres are also eligible to participate, provided they are competent swimmers.

Cross-country

Held during Term 1, the children undergo training in the weeks leading up to the event by gradually building on the distance they run. The cross-country trial is held on a school day and all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 are expected to participate in this event.

School athletics carnival

Held in Term 2, all children from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in the athletics carnival. The children are invited to participate in all events, including distance races, field events such as long jump, shot put, etc.

In each of these areas children have the opportunity to compete against other schools at the zone carnival. Learn more about representative sport
