Towards the end of last term, our Year Two students were consolidating their learning about persuasive texts as part of their writing unit in English.
To test out their newfound persuasive knowledge, Year Two wrote letters to our Principal, Mr Langford, in an attempt to persuade him allowing a ‘Disney Day’ for Year Two.
Mr Langford visited Year Two where he listened to a number of persuasive texts in favour of having a Disney Day at St Aidan’s, and in response, wrote a note back to each student with feedback on their persuasive writing skills.
The students were thrilled to learn that their letters did the trick and were persuasive enough for the Disney Day to take place!
Throughout Disney Day, students were involved in a variety of activities which put learning into action - they started out with a budget and had to create the ultimate day at one of the Disneyland theme parks, this involved having students visit the website to find the pricing for tickets, food and souvenirs while working to stay within their budget.
Students also completed a number of creative arts activities such as making Eeyrore and Mickey Mouse dream catchers.
At the end of the day, parents were invited into the classroom to see the learning which had taken place and to share in a special Disney party.
